Equipment commonly used in microbiology laboratories generally includes glass equipment, metal equipment, rubber products and plastic products, etc. Treatment and disinfection measures for each type of equipment are different. At present, the commonly used methods of disinfection and sterilization are physical methods and chemical methods. Physical disinfection method is adopted to sterilize glassware. Pressure steam sterilization is the most commonly used physical sterilization method at present. It makes use of high pressure steam and latent heat in the steam environment and good penetration, so that the bacterial protein coagulation denaturation and microbial death.
Many laboratory experiments require a sterile environment, so it is necessary to sterilize glassware. Sterilization of glassware is generally divided into three steps: cleaning, wrapping and sterilization. The glassware treated by sterilization should be used as soon as possible to avoid being contaminated by miscellaneous bacteria again.
1. clean
Glassware must be cleaned before sterilization. There are certain differences between the newly purchased glassware and the commonly used glassware cleaning methods. Manual cleaning or ultrasonic cleaning are usually used.
2. bandage
Before sterilization, glassware should be wrapped in paper or metal buckets, which is to prevent glassware from being contaminated by external bacteria again after sterilization. Different kinds of glassware have different wrapping methods, usually with appropriate cotton stopper, and then with paper and string.
3. the sterilization
Use sterilization method to sterilize glassware. The glassware after sterilization should be used as soon as possible to avoid being contaminated by bacteria again.
We recommend YG series pulsating vacuum sterilizer, which makes use of high pressure steam and latent heat in the steam environment as well as good penetration to coagulate and denaturate bacterial proteins and kill microorganisms. Generally, it is carried out in high pressure steam sterilizer with steam pressure of 1.0-1.1kg/cm² and maintained for 20-30 minutes to kill bacteria. Strong penetration of steam, steam condensation release a lot of latent heat, can make the object quickly heating, steam sterilization is not only reliable, but also can reduce the sterilization temperature, reduce the action time. Steam sterilization uniformity, penetration, reliability, efficiency and other aspects become the first sterilization.
In addition to high pressure steam sterilizers, wet heat sterilization methods include boiling sterilization, pasteurization, circulating steam sterilization and batch steam sterilization. No matter which sterilization method is used, it is necessary to ensure that the glassware is completely sterilized before it is used in the experiment, otherwise it may cause certain experimental errors.
